“Memories of Jewish Americans Summers Past: Vacations in the Catskills”
Join Rabbi Lisa for an informative and enjoyable series of 3 sessions on the transformation of New York’s Catskill Mountain Range into one of the first “vacationlands” for Jews in the United States. We will use literature, film and testimonials to explore the Jewish resorts in the “Borsht Belt.” Join us as we discover the myths and realities of this twentieth century world of bungalows, hotels and summer camps that held a treasure-trove of stories and memories for East Coast Jews who were seeking relaxation, good food and entertainment.
Classes will take place in person and via Zoom. Attend all 3 sessions or any one or two of your choice.
