Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland and Temple Israel of Natick are partnering to offer a new teen philanthropy program supported by CJP and inspired by the Jewish Teen Funders Network (JTFN). Together, we connect Jewish 8th-10th graders from across the Metrowest community to create a group of inspired young changemakers. We believe that philanthropy is a wonderful way for teenagers to engage with their Jewish identity, providing them with a tangible and practical way that they can express both their Jewish values and their social conscience. Ultimately, we seek to help them recognize ways that they can make a positive difference in the world. Throughout the year, we will explore Jewish values, and the role these values play when we give tzedakah. After exploring the values closest to them, visiting with different charitable organizations, and developing criteria for their own philanthropy fund, at the end of the year, participants will be able to grant a non-profit in our community a philanthropic sum of money. The program meets once per month on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm, alternating between TST and TIN. Each gathering will offer dessert and snacks.
