TEMPLE SHIR TIKVA

Moving Traditions

We are excited to re-launch our Moving Traditions program groups—this year in partnership with Temple Israel of Natick! The mission of Moving Traditions is to “embolden teens by fostering self-discovery, challenging sexism, and inspiring a commitment to Jewish life and learning.” Their Rosh Hodesh groups are designed for female-identifying individuals, and Shevet groups serve male-identifying teens. We are particularly excited to pilot their newest initiative, KULAM, which welcomes teens of all genders. In their own words, “Kulam equips Jewish teens of all genders to engage in dynamic and authentic conversations in order to build capacity for resilience, self-reflection and healthy relationships. In Kulam, Jewish teens learn to engage with issues of Jewish peoplehood and tikkun olam.”

In addition to our own Moving Traditions groups, there will also be a Boston-wide Moving Traditions group specifically for teens who identify as trans and nonbinary, called Tzelem, which will be hosted in a nearby Boston synagogue.

Our TST-TI program groups will be running in accordance with the recommendations of Moving Traditions. Groups will include opportunities for same-gender and mixed-gender conversation, and will be designed to match participant comfort and interest. Groups will meet on one Sunday of every month, October 2021 to May 2022 from 7:00-8:30 pm, unless otherwise arranged with the group facilitator. If you or anyone you know may be interested in this group, please reach out to Jenna Friedman or Alison Weikel
