Domestic abuse is a Jewish issue. In the public eye, domestic abuse is often understood as a series of isolated incidents involving some combination of hitting, yelling and threatening behavior. Facilitated by the National Council of Jewish Women and JF & CS, this session will talk about what emotional, physical financial and technology-related abuse might look life in intimate relationships and then look more closely at why it might be hard to decide whether to stay with or leave a person who acts in harmful ways. We'll also examine some of the specific cultural and religious practice-related barriers that Jewish people who are being harmed by their partner might face, and how to support someone who is being harmed and what organzations can do to help.
